Three-year programme to provide sustainable support to displaced persons in the Ethiopian regions of Afar, Amhara, Benishangul-Gumuz and Tigray

Within the programme, AICS will implement a 10 million euros project, to support the persons displaced by conflict and natural disasters and their host communities in the Afar Region of Ethiopia to move towards recovery and resilience.

Yesterday, 11th of January 2024, The European Union in Ethiopia and its partners launched a 43,5 Million Euros three-year programme to provide sustainable support to displaced persons and their host communities in the Ethiopian regions of Afar, Amhara, Benishangul-Gumuz and Tigray.
The programme is coordinated by IOM Ethiopia and jointly implemented with GIZ Ethiopia, AICS, the Danish and Ethiopian Red Cross Society and UNHCR Ethiopia
Within the programme, AICS will implement a 10 million euros project, to support the persons displaced by conflict and natural disasters and their host communities in the Afar Region of Ethiopia to move towards recovery and resilience. The project will support measures in the field of livelihood, skills/vocational training, and job creation, also linked to the rehabilitation of basic infrastructures in a Region that has social indicators significantly below the national average, challenged by recurrent drought, disease outbreaks, chronic water shortage and conflicts.
