AICS Addis Ababa, in collaboration with the Ministry of Water and Energy – Ethiopia, launched today the “Improvement of sanitation facilities in urban areas of Ethiopia” project in Addis Ababa.
H.E. Ambassador Asfaw Dingamo (Water Supply and Sanitation State Minister), Arianna Catalano, Deputy Head of Mission of the Italian Embassy to Ethiopia, the WaSH team of AICS, the consultants of SWS Consulting Engineering and representatives of the Ethiopian towns that will be part of the initiative were presents to the meeting for discussing the first phase of the project, which goal is to contribute to the improvement of living and health conditions of residents in targeted urban areas.
The initiative, funded by the Italian Government with 22 million euros, finances the implementation of sanitation interventions aimed at the collection and sustainable disposal of wastewater and the strengthening of management tools of infrastructure at all levels to improve quality, efficiency and effectiveness of services in 6 small and medium-sized towns in Ethiopia.
This project confirms the engagement of the Agenzia Italiana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo in the sanitation and environment sector that through time has always been and still is a priority area of intervention of our development cooperation activities.
