From emergency response and humanitarian aid to building resilience: a series of mini-videos illustrates the Italian Cooperation’s interventions in Amhara, Afar and Oromia
The Italian Cooperation in Ethiopia is committed to addressing the humanitarian needs of populations affected by conflict and climate shocks, while promoting interventions geared towards resilience and sustainable development.
This series of mini-videos, produced by the AICS Office in Addis Ababa, documents some of the main initiatives underway in the Amhara, Afar, and Oromia regions, through images from the field and firsthand accounts from beneficiaries and operators.
This is an important testament to how the Italian Cooperation operates, in Ethiopia and in other countries under its jurisdiction, demonstrating the value and expertise of the Italian system, alongside NGOs and other actors present in the country.
The interventions include the provision of health and protection services to IDPs, the strengthening of water systems and livelihoods in arid areas, the rehabilitation of health and education infrastructure, and the adoption of anticipatory approaches to climate risk management.
The activities are carried out in collaboration with local and international partners and aim to ensure equitable access to essential services, improve communities’ living conditions, and strengthen their capacity to cope with future shocks. These stories highlight the value of an integrated approach that connects humanitarian response and development, with a particular focus on the most vulnerable.
