The first meeting of the Steering Committee for the “Budget Support Program dedicated to Environmental and Green Economy Development” was held at the SINCE Hall of the AICS Office in Addis Ababa. The event was attended by the Italian Ambassador, Agostino Palese, Ethiopia’s State Minister for Planning and Development, Seyoum Mekonen, Senior Advisor to the Ethiopian Minister of Finance, Kokeb Misrak, Acting Head of AICS Addis Ababa, Alessandra Attisani, and Dr. Fiseha Assefa from the Office of the Ethiopian Prime Minister, moderated by the Deputy Head of Mission, Luca Carpintieri.
This meeting provided a valuable opportunity to discuss the utilization of budget support and review the progress achieved so far, including the environmental rehabilitation of Lake Boye in Jimma.
Ethiopian authorities expressed great appreciation for Italy’s efforts, which are not only focused on environmental protection but also on promoting new sustainable tourism opportunities for Ethiopia.
The meeting also paved the way for further collaborative actions to strengthen environmental rehabilitation and promote green spaces, contributing to Ethiopia’s growth and the enhancement of its natural heritage.
